Anambra state government has called on National Orientation Agency (NOA), Anambra State Directorate, Awka to embark on statewide sensitization programme with a view to educating members of the public on ongoing circulation of counterfeit Otrivin Nasal Drops in Nigeria.

The call was contained in a letter signed by Secretary to State Government, Mrs Chiamaka Nnake and sent to the office of NOA State Director, Barr. Lady Ifeoma Chijioke

The government also enjoined NOA to dissuade the residents from patronizing such fake products as it posed grave health risk to unsuspecting customers.

According to the letter, “NAFDAC had before now issued a warning letter to the reporting agency against such products, but to no avail.

“The reporting agency has also identified suspicious batch numbers such as 7U8T and SU8X indicating them as counterfeit products in contrast to the genuine Otrivin products with registration numbers 04-5350 for children and 04-0026 for adults.

“We therefore, require NOA to embark on statewide sensitization programme with a view to educating members of the public on the foregoing, as well as dissuade them from patronizing such fake products as it poses grave health risk to unsuspecting customers.”
