Dr. Eddy Emegakor, the Chief Medical Director of Crown Hospital Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, abducted last week Thursday has been rescued.

Dr. Emegakor was freed unharmed from his captors through the efforts of security operatives.

Confirming the development, the Secretary of the Nigeria Medical Association, Dr. Ifeanyi Obiaeli, said the doctor is hale, hearty, and in good spirits, and has reunited with his family.

According to Obiaeli, the association received news of the rescue while addressing journalists during a briefing at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital.

The Nigeria Medical Association had earlier issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the government, demanding the immediate rescue of Dr. Emegakor or risk industrial action by medical practitioners in the state.
