Nigerian Afrobeats star Rema is set to perform at the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, organisers have announced.
The global football body, FIFA, disclosed that the Nigerian singer would headline a lineup of international artists for the ceremony scheduled to kick off the tournament in North America.
According to FIFA, the opening ceremony will blend music, culture and football, showcasing diverse talents from across the world in what it described as a historic celebration.
Rema, known for his global hit songs and growing international acclaim, is expected to bring Afrobeats to a worldwide audience of millions during the event.
The 2026 World Cup, to be co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, will be the first edition to feature 48 teams and is projected to attract record viewership.
