Gunmen in military uniforms allegedly abduct Anambra hospital CMD

A popular medical doctor and Chief Medical Director of Crown hospital Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra state, Dr. Edwin Emegoakor has been allegedly kidnapped by a four man gunmen in Army and Police uniforms.

The hospital security operatives, medical personnel and other workers within reach were reportedly surrendered at gunpoint and their phones confiscated during the operation.

Narrating the ugly ordeal they went through to our correspondent, inside hospital sources who pleaded anonymity said the incident happened at 6.30pm on Thursday.

According to them, the gunmen quietly drove into the hospital with a black tinted lexus 350 and parked. They were casually discussing inside their car while people were moving about in the hospital freely without noticing them

“They were patiently waiting for their victim and later two of them, one in Army camouflage and the other in police uniform, came out and picked the CMD who was on a ward round.

“Meanwhile, the gunmen surrendered the security men and some medical personnel, took their phones together with others around and left with their victim, Dr Emegoakor.

“No life was lost in the process because of absence of gunshots in order not to attract attention of patients and other passers-by,” the sources hinted.

Contacted, Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga said such report has not come to his table but promised to get back to our correspondent.
