Woman arrested for torturing adopted kids in Anambra

A middle-aged woman has been arrested over alleged abuse of her two children in Onitsha, Anambra state.

The suspect, identified as Eucharia Ezenwanne allegedly subjected the children, Echetuna Ezenwanne (6 years) and Chikaima Ezenwanne (4 years) to severe physical abuse.

She was said to have used a wire to inflict injuries on the victims.

Confirming the arrest, Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga said the suspect claimed to have adopted the children from a motherless babies’ home in Onitsha.

He said Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu has condemned the act, describing the case as heinous and unacceptable.

He said, “On April 28, 2026 a female suspect by name Eucharia Ezenwanne, allegedly subjected two children Echetuna Ezenwanne (6 years) and Chikaima Ezenwanne (4 years) to severe physical abuse, reportedly using a wire to inflict injuries.

“The suspect claimed to have adopted the children from a motherless babies’ home in Onitsha.

“To this end, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command CP Ikioye Orutugu describing the case as heinous and unacceptable, reiterates the Command’s Commitment to protecting vulnerable persons, especially children, and ensuring that offenders are brought to justice,” he said.
