Association of Non-Indigenes Welfare of Anambra State (ANISA/ANIAS) has endorsed Chairman, Awka South local government area, Prince Chinedu Okafor for second term in office.
The Association presented him with a cheque of N5million to purchase his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms as a mark of their support for his reelection
The leadership and delegates from the 21 council areas of the State also passed a vote of confidence on the chairman to continue his good works.
The endorsement which attracted national officers of ANISA/ANIAS, LGA Executives and members unanimously agreed that Okafor deserved second term having performed beyond expectations within the few months in office.
“This move is to enable him perfect the good works which he has commenced in educational sector, security, peaceful and conducive environment for business to thrive, empowerment to both market women and youths and many more,” the group said.
Speaking during the meeting, President General (PG) of ANISA/ANIAS, Chief Great Ugwuoke described the Council chairman as a politician with human feeling whose brand of politics is hard to find in the political space at the moment.
Appeal to party faithful
He also appealed to the party delegates to vote massively for Okafor so as to emerge candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the August 29 LGA polls.
Responding, Okafor in company of some of the Councillors and other officials of the council appreciated the uncommon gesture of ANISA/ ANIAS.
He particularly appreciated the leadership of the association for its thoughtfulness and kindness by coming out openly to declare their support his candidature.
The chairman pledged to do more for the indigenes and non-Indigenes living in Awka South and environs if he emerged victorious at the poll.
