Ebube Monso donates bags of rice, others to 1000 widows, elderly in Anambra community

No fewer than 1000 persons on Monday benefited from the benevolence of Rev Fr Emmanuel Obimma in Nkwele Ezunaka in Oyi local government area of Anambra state.

The beneficiaries, including widows and elderly persons received bags of rice and other food items, together with cash gifts.

Speaking during a brief mass ahead of the distribution, the cleric, popularly known as Ebube Monso said the gesture which had become annual event was targeted at alleviating the plights of the vulnerable.

He also promised to increase the allowances of the elderly who had been on his payroll over the years.

“The hardship in the country has been much on our people due to biting economy. This is our little way of cushioning the effects and putting smiles on the faces of people.

“There’s no need for struggle as ae have more than enough to go round. We’re also expecting another trailer load of bags of rice.

“You have both the one to eat and the bags to go home with,” he added.

Royal appreciation

Traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Obiora Anachuna appreciated the priest for his magnanimity, praying God to bless him with long life and good health.

He also appealed to him to remember the community in his daily prayers over the crisis rocking the community.

A philanthropist, Chief Vitalis Nwakobi described the benefactor as role model and a cleric with a large heart.

“Father Ebube Monso’s genuine love for humanity is unparalleled. He’s a role model to all of us because what concerns humanity touches him.

“We’re not surprised with this gesture he’s carrying out today. We only wish others will emulate and even surpass him,” he stated.

Describing the community crisis as an act of stupidity, Nwakobi who is eyeing the seat of the President General, called for dialogue or legal action.

“Act of vandalism is a serious crime in law. The law should take its course on whoever that willfully damages public facility,” he added.
