Former Governor of Anambra state, Mr Peter Obi has called for free, fair and credible election ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in the state.

Obi made the call on Wednesday in a chat with newsmen shortly after visits to College of Nursing, Adazi Nnukwu and UNINIGER Teaching Hospital where he donated N15million each to the health institutions.

The 2023 Labour Party’s presidential candidate however warned against vote buying or any other vices capable of jeopardizing the outcome of the exercise.

He described the gubernatorial candidates as his friends who he has respect for, but noted his loyalty remain that of his party candidate, Dr. George Moghalu.

He said, “All those involved in the exercise, in one way or the other are my friends. I have respects for all of them.

“But as a member of LP, I’m supporting my candidate, but not to the extent of vote buying or anything untoward.

“Let everyone vote according to their conscience. All I want is for the election to be free, fair and credible.”

On state creation, Obi referred to the plan as unnecessary, stressing that Nigeria’s solution remained a working nation.

“Creation of states is not our problem. We need to get Nigeria to work first and not creating states, ministries and other things,” he stated.
