The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Adamawa State Command, has intercepted 107 irregular migrants residing unlawfully within the state.
Parading the suspects, the Comptroller of Immigration in Adamawa, Sani Sule Jega, said the arrests followed coordinated surveillance and intelligence operations across multiple locations.
Jega who explained that the exercise aligns with directives from the Comptroller General to strengthen border security nationwide, called on Nigerians to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
According to the NIS, investigations revealed that 77 of the suspects are Cameroonians, three are Chadians, 21 are Nigeriens, and six are Burkinabe nationals, all female.
Authorities further disclosed that some of the Cameroonian and Chadian nationals are suspected of engaging in fraudulent job scam activities, while the others were found to be undocumented migrants living in Nigeria illegally.
The immigration service stressed that public cooperation is crucial, urging Nigerians to promptly report any suspicious movements or activities involving irregular migrants to the nearest immigration office for swift action.
