Operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka have uncovered a chilling eight-month-old murder case, leading to the arrest of 35-year-old Chukwudalu Ezeani for allegedly killing his cousin, Chinedu Ezeani.

Preliminary investigations indicate that on August 1, 2025, at about 8:00 p.m., the suspect allegedly murdered the 52-year-old victim at his residence in Afube Village, Amichi.

A statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, explains that Ezeani reportedly buried the body in a shallow grave within his compound, concealing the crime for several months.

The case was initially reported as a missing person incident at the Amichi Police Station.

However, following credible intelligence, detectives reopened the investigation, which led to the suspect’s arrest.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime and guided operatives to the burial site, where the victim’s remains were exhumed.

The body has been deposited for forensic examination, while the suspect is expected to be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The Anambra State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to justice and urged residents to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
