APGA leader calls for sustainable funding to strengthen party and expand national reach

Rev Ehiemere

The National Vice Chairman (South-East) of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Rev. Augustine Ehiemere, has urged the adoption of deliberate, transparent, and sustainable funding mechanisms to strengthen the party’s institutional capacity and support its growth.

He made the call during the APGA South-East Zonal Stakeholders’ Meeting held in Awka, Anambra State, emphasizing that the South-East remains the ideological and political base of the party.

According to him, consolidating this foundation is essential while positioning APGA for broader national relevance.

Rev. Ehiemere explained that his recent grassroots engagement across the five South-East states was aimed at restoring confidence among members and reconnecting the party with its core values.

He noted that the sensitization tour helped revive enthusiasm among supporters who had become disillusioned.

The National Vice Chairman stressed that while renewed energy among members is encouraging, long-term political success requires strong institutional backing.

He therefore called on elected officials, aspirants, and stakeholders at all levels to contribute financial and material resources to the party.

Reflecting on the outreach initiative, he said it was guided by the principle of inclusiveness and unity.

Despite limited support, he facilitated meetings with party leaders across the zone, often covering logistics personally.

While these efforts demonstrated commitment, he warned that passion alone cannot sustain a political movement.

Rev. Ehiemere also outlined plans to strengthen the party’s visibility and identity in the region.

Inspiring new generation

He proposed initiatives that would reinforce APGA’s heritage and inspire a new generation of supporters, noting that such efforts would require adequate funding and coordination.

In a strong appeal to party officeholders, he urged them to recognize their responsibility to support the platform that enabled their political rise.

He described his call not as a request for charity but as a demand for structured and accountable investment in the party’s future.

Rev Ehiemere specifically encouraged the Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, to lead efforts toward comprehensive financial and structural reforms within the party.

According to him, such reforms would help reposition APGA as a stronger and more competitive political force beyond its traditional base.

He added that APGA must evolve from a regional party into a national contender, stressing that there are still opportunities for expansion and greater influence across the country.

In his response, Governor Soludo acknowledged the need for a more inclusive and sustainable funding model.

He noted that financial responsibility should not rest solely on elected officials but should be shared among all party members.

Governor Soludo proposed the establishment of a committee to develop a transparent fundraising framework and encouraged members to see financial contributions as a civic responsibility within the party.

Both leaders agreed that building a financially resilient structure is critical to APGA’s long-term success, unity, and national ambitions.
