Six members of the House of Representatives have switched political parties, citing deepening internal divisions and unresolved crises within their former platforms.

Four lawmakers from Kano State—Sani Wakili, Muktar Zakari, Yusuf Datti, and Abdulhakim Kamil Ado—dumped the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a separate development, Kabiru Maipalace of Zamfara State and Emeka Martins of Imo State left the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Their defections were formally announced during plenary, as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Abbas Tajudeen, read their letters on the floor.

The lawmakers said lingering internal disputes within their former parties had stalled effective participation, prompting their decision to seek alignment with new political platforms.
