The Secretary to the Anambra State Government, Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake, has assured staff of the Nigeria for Women Program Scale Up (NFWP-SU) of sustained government support toward the successful implementation of the project in the state.
Mrs. Nnake gave the assurance when members of the Anambra State Project Coordinating Unit paid her a courtesy visit following her recent appointment.
The delegation, led by the State Project Coordinator, Hope Okoye, congratulated the SSG on her appointment, describing it as a well-deserved elevation that would enhance governance and strengthen women-focused development initiatives in Anambra.
She explained that the visit was aimed at identifying with the new SSG and reaffirming the team’s commitment to effective program delivery.
According to her, the SSG’s office would play a crucial role in strengthening coordination and helping the project achieve its objectives.
Okoye also expressed optimism over the program’s recent extension, noting that it would allow for expanded outreach and greater impact.
She revealed that the project now targets the establishment of 6,000 Women Affinity Groups (WAGs) and will extend to three additional Local Government Areas to broaden its reach across the state.
In her response, Mrs. Nnake, who also chairs the Multi-Sectoral Coordinating Structure of the NFWP-SU Project in Anambra, thanked the delegation for the visit and commended their commitment to women empowerment.
She assured them that necessary approvals related to the program would be considered, pending the appointment of a new Commissioner for the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning.
She further pledged her continued support until the project fully achieves its goals.
The Nigeria for Women Program Scale Up Project is designed to institutionalize Women Affinity Groups and create platforms that expand economic opportunities for vulnerable and unbanked women in participating communities.
