A chieftain of the Labour Party (LP) in Abia State, Kelechi Odoeme, has formally received over 500 new members into the party in his community, Eziama Achara, Uturu, in Isuikwuato Local Government Area.

The event, which combined a formal induction ceremony with a strategic engagement session, is part of efforts to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Addressing the gathering, Odoeme emphasized the party’s commitment to social justice and people-focused governance.

He described the influx of new members as a reflection of growing public confidence in the administration of Alex Otti.

He noted that the initiative was a deliberate mobilisation effort aimed at consolidating support for the Labour Party in Uturu.

The LP chieftain stressed his close ties with the community and continued accessibility to the people.

According to him, the party is steadily evolving into a strong political force in the area, driven by what he described as visible governance and transformative leadership across Abia State.

“The influx of new members into the Labour Party in Uturu clearly shows the people’s desire for tangible, people-centred leadership,” he said.

“This is not just about increasing our numbers, but about building a shared vision of sustainable progress from the grassroots.”

Odoeme further highlighted the importance of sustained community engagement and high-profile inductions in expanding the party’s influence.

He added that the current wave of new memberships positions the party for stronger political impact in the coming months.

The event concluded with a formal registration exercise and a communal reception, attracting key stakeholders and notable figures from Uturu.

Many of them expressed interest in aligning with what supporters describe as the administration’s “working governance” model.
