The Anambra State Police Command has deployed 60 Safe School operatives to designated centres to monitor the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations scheduled to hold from April 15 to April 26.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, noting that the deployment was aimed at ensuring safety, security and orderliness throughout the exercise.
Ikenga said the operatives, drawn from the eight Police Area Commands in the state, would operate under the coordination of the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, ACP Harrison Oruruo.
He explained that the move formed part of the Command’s proactive measures under the Safe School Initiative to provide a secure environment for candidates, invigilators and examination officials.
According to him, the deployment is also to prevent any form of examination malpractice, disruption or security breach during the period.
The police spokesperson reassured the public of the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property and urged candidates and other stakeholders to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security personnel on duty.
