Your resolutions null and void – Wike’s PDP faction taunts Makinde camp

The faction of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has described the resolutions the reached at the 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting convened by allies of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde as “null and void”.

In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, the Wike-aligned camp said all resolutions, announcements, and claims from the meeting are “of no effect.”

The faction faulted what it described as contradictions within the Makinde group.

“It is both ironic and disappointing that those who previously opposed caretaker committees are now claiming to have established one.

“This inconsistency exposes a lack of credibility and coherence,” the statement read, describing the move as opportunistic.”

The group further argued that even if the faction had the authority to convene such a meeting, it failed to comply with provisions of the Electoral Act 2026, particularly the requirement to give the Independent National Electoral Commission at least 21 days’ notice.

“There is no evidence of compliance, nor was INEC in attendance as required by law. This alone renders their actions null and void.

The Wike faction urged PDP members, stakeholders, and the public to disregard the meeting and its outcomes, insisting they lack constitutional and legal backing and only serve to create confusion within the party.

The Makinde-led faction had announced the formation of an Interim National Working Committee (INWC) headed by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, whose earlier National Working Committee was voided by the Supreme Court over irregularities tied to the Ibadan national convention.
