National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Anambra state has called on community leaders and stakeholders in the area to join forces with government in the aggressive fight against youth restiveness, moral decadence and insecurity in the country.
State Director, Mrs Ifeoma Chijioke made the call during a one day campaign programme organized by the agency in Nnobi community, Idemili South local government area of the state.
She regretted rising tide of youth restiveness, deteriorating moral decadence and insecurity across so many states of the federation.
According to her, adolescent youths in the country are now engaging themselves in destructive ventures, rather than engage themselves in productive businesses.
“They now involve in disruptive and sometimes, destructive activities and to tackle these challenges head on, we need institutional collaborations with critical community leaders/stakeholders in this community.
“This is why National Orientation Agency, NOA, Anambra State Directorate, Awka, organized this campaign against youth restiveness, moral decadence and insecurity for people of this community and beyond,” she said.
Chijioke advised youths to work towards imbibing acceptable, societal and national core values to ameliorate dangerous efficacies of these menace in order to prove the true justification of the programme in the area.
“This programme is, also, justified by the fact that national values charter will restore mutual relationship between government and the citizens,” she added.
The NOA boss further maintained that the programme was primarily aimed at sensitizing the public on the inherent dangers of moral decadence and youth restiveness in the society.
“The special objectives of the programme, among other things are to reinforce the adoption of the National Ethics as the solution to the deteriorating moral decadence and youth restiveness in Nigeria.
“This programme will afford us an opportunity to collaborate with critical community leaders in this community to constructively engage the youths meaningful,” she stressed
Visit to Nnobi
The NOA Director had earlier visited Traditional Ruler of Nnobi Community, Igwe Nick. Muodum Obi in his palace where she solicited the community’s assistance in building functional skill acquisition centers to gainfully engage the youth for their self sustainability.
The monarch commended leadership of NOA for the all important message of the programme, describing it as very apt and timely, especially now the country is battling with lots of challenges.
He enjoined leadership of the Agency to further work towards reaching out to the womenfolk of not only the community, but the entire state for quick dissemination of the messages to all parts of the state and beyond.
On his part, President General of the Community, Chief Alloy Olubualo, assured NOA of robust collaborations to cascade the messages of the programme across the grassroots.
