Students of Queen of the Rosary College, QRC, Onitsha, Anambra State have continued to show remarkable academic excellence in local, national and international Schools competitions.
The school emerged as the Second Best in the 2025 Africa Top Schools Report and Awards (ATS Awards), held in Lagos and organized by Africa Brands Review of State-by-State Analysis of Top 1000 Public Schools in May/June 2024 WASSSCE, using credits in both Mathematics and English Language.
Executive Secretary of Africa Brands Review Services Ltd, Mr. Joseph Ayodele, in a statement, said the event celebrates excellence in African Education based on rigorous, data-driven evaluation of outstanding performance in the May/June 2024 WASSSCE Top-performing schools rating.
“Ministry of Education reports highlight exceptional, value-driven management practices; and verified school ratings from the Africa Top Schools Awards held over the past decade,” he said.
As QRC, Onitsha is still basking in the euphoria of that prestigious award, her outstanding performance at the just-concluded 1st edition of Anambra State Strengthening Mathematics and Science Education, SMASE Africa-IDK Mathematics Competition came as testament of the spectacular feat it has maintained in academic excellence over the years.
According to organizers of SMASE initiative, it is aimed at enhancing the quality of Mathematics and Science Education in Africa, where students can demonstrate their analytical skills and problem-solving abilities, while they are also prepared for future challenges in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

At the end of the competition, QRC’s Anosike Nicole clinched the 2nd position in the Junior category, while Enemuo Chizitere, also from QRC, Onitsha emerged 3rd in the Senior category.
Reacting to the victory, the Principal, Queen of the Rosary College, Onitsha, Rev. Sr. Maria Chijioke Nwankwo congratulated Miss Anosike Nicole and Enemuo Chizitere for doing their school proud, noting that the prizes coming on the heels of the school emerging 2nd in the AFRICA TOP SCHOOLS HALLS OF FAME rating for 2024, has affirmed the track record of excellence in the school.

Rev. Sr. Nwankwo described the Anambra State SMASE Africa-IDK Mathematics Competition as a critical platform for recognizing and rewarding Mathematics excellence, noting that the outstanding performance of the students in the Mathematics competition would serve as a motivation for others.
She extolled the College proprietor, and Archbishop of Onitsha Archdiocese, Most Rev. Dr. Valerian Maduka Okeke for his motivation, encouragement and relentless support to the College, which she said has made QRC, Onitsha the best among equals, and the QRC Alumni for their care and active presence in the college Affairs.
She called for the support of educators, parents, and people of goodwill in future editions of the competition to further strengthen Mathematics education in Anambra State in particular and Africa at large.
