President Bola Tinubu has forwarded a 2025 budget proposal of one trillion four hundred and eighty one billion naira for Rivers State to the House of Representatives.
In the letter read in the floor of the house by the Speaker House of Representatives, Dr Abbas Tajudeen, the President said his action was in line with the Provisions of the Constitution.
According to the President, his action was necessitated by the absence of the Rivers State House of Assembly following the declaration of State of Emergency.
President Tinubu had on March 18, 2025 declared a state of emergency in Rivers State, suspending the Governor, his Deputy and all elected members of the State House of Assembly.
This followed a prolonged political crisis marked by attempts to impeach the governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and disputes within the state’s legislative body.
