Police in Anambra State have foiled kidnap attempts in two separate locations in the state.
Spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga said one of the incidents occurred in Isuaniocha in Awka North Local Government Area.
The second incident occurred at Nkwelle in and Oyi Local Government Areas of the state.
He said the operatives recovered victims’ vehicles – a Toyota Corolla and Shuttle bus as hoodlums fled the scenes.
He said, “Police Operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad Enugu-Ukwu in the evening of 17th May 2025 foiled a kidnapping attempt and recovered the victim’s vehicle at Isuaniocha.
“The kidnapping gang of five operating in a black coloured Toyota Corolla double-crossed the victim at Amatu village, Agulu and abducted him with his black Lexus 350 SUV before the Police were alerted.
“The operatives in technology-driven manhunt on the criminals made them to abandon the victim and the vehicle on the road at Isuaniocha and fled. The victim has been debriefed and in safe custody.
The PPRO said police operatives attached to the Obosi Divisional Headquarters on 17th May 2025 recovered a stolen shuttle bus.

Driver called control room
Ikenga said operatives swung into action after the driver called the Anambra State Police Command Control Room by the driver.
The armed criminal gang disguised themselves as passengers and dispossessed him of 20,000 naira and the shuttle bus.
“Consequently, the Operatives acted swiftly and alerted the necessary security checkpoints to deny the criminals access to escape:”.
This he noted, forced them to flee abandon the vehicle at Slaughter Junction, Nkwelle, while fleeing through a nearby bush.
“To this end, the Operatives are currently working on the necessary information available to dislodge the kidnapping gang.
According to the PPRO, operatives have intensified patrols in the areas to enhance safety and prevent untoward situations.
the operations are also to ensure possible arrest of the fleeing suspects.
