President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Pope Leo XIV, formerly Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, on his election as the 267th Bishop of Rome.
In a statement by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised the Conclave’s choice and celebrated the Pontiff’s global message of faith, hope and peace.
He also acknowledged the Catholic Church’s longstanding contributions to Nigeria in education, healthcare, peacebuilding, and technological development.
Tinubu expressed hope that the new Pope’s leadership will strengthen values of love, charity, and humanity, praying for his good health and wisdom.
