The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the Anambra Central Senatorial District, Mr. Dozie Nwankwo has expressed appreciation to party members and supporters following his victory in the party’s senatorial primary election.

Nwankwo, a former two-term member of the House of Representatives, secured the APGA ticket for the 2027 senatorial election after emerging victorious in the primary, reportedly polling the highest number of votes among contestants across the state.

In a message to party faithful, Nwankwo thanked APGA’s leadership, including Governor Chukwuma Soludo, National Chairman Mr. Sly Ezeokenwa, and the Anambra State executive led by Mr. Ifeatu Obiokoye, for their support and confidence in his candidacy.

He also commended members of his political structure and supporters across Anambra State, particularly those in Anambra Central, for their commitment during the primary election.

While celebrating the victory, Nwankwo urged party members and supporters to remain united and focused on the larger task ahead—the 2027 general election.

He called on youth and women groups, as well as supporters across political divides, to sustain their backing as the campaign moves into a new phase.

“I appreciate your steadfast support over the years. The journey ahead requires even greater commitment, and together we can achieve victory,” he said.

Several support groups and community leaders have also thrown their weight behind the APGA candidate, citing his track record in public service and community development.

Chief Convener of the Youths/Women Alliance for Good Governance, Dr. Chukwuma Agubata, described Nwankwo as a leader whose programmes have positively impacted many communities in the senatorial zone.

According to him, initiatives such as annual medical outreaches, scholarship schemes, support for widows, educational interventions, and youth empowerment programmes have distinguished Nwankwo in public service.

Past impacts

Agubata also highlighted the lawmaker’s skills acquisition programmes, which provide beneficiaries with vocational training, equipment, and startup support, noting that the initiative has become a model for empowerment efforts in various parts of the country.

He further cited projects associated with Nwankwo, including the Federal College of Agriculture and an ICT centre in Enugwu-Ukwu, which he said have expanded educational and employment opportunities for young people.

Community leaders echoed similar sentiments. Chief Okey Nwude of Abagana said Nwankwo’s aspiration to the Senate is driven by a desire to continue legislative and development initiatives he started while serving in the House of Representatives.

Another stakeholder, Chief Martin Dike from Enugwu-Ukwu, said constituents believe Nwankwo would leverage a Senate seat to attract more development projects and economic opportunities to the district.

The Onye Ndozi Forum also endorsed the APGA candidate, describing him as a visionary leader with a clear development agenda for Anambra Central.

The group urged eligible voters to register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the election.

Supporters argue that electing Nwankwo would strengthen APGA’s representation in the National Assembly and help consolidate the party’s influence at the federal level.

With the 2027 elections approaching, Nwankwo and his supporters say they are focused on building a broad coalition across the senatorial district as they seek to secure victory at the polls.
