Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has challenged members of the State Executive Council and permanent secretaries to focus on delivering enduring legacies that would transform the lives of residents before the end of the administration in 2030.

Speaking during the Anambra State Executive Council Retreat marking the commencement of his second tenure, Soludo urged members of his cabinet to immediately draft their valedictory speeches for March 2030 and use them as a roadmap for achieving measurable development goals.

The Governor described the retreat as the beginning of a new governance phase tagged “Solution 2.0: Acceleration With Precision,” aimed at moving the administration from foundational reforms to rapid and targeted implementation of policies and projects.

According to him, the administration’s long-term vision is to build Anambra into a livable, prosperous smart megacity and position the state as a major economic and technology hub in Africa.

“This governance framework is intended to lay the foundation for Vision 2070 through a development strategy inspired by leading global economic and technology centres,” he said.

To actualize the vision, Soludo said the government would pursue two major cultural shifts — an enterprise-driven economy that encourages innovation and entrepreneurship, and a renewed homeland consciousness that motivates citizens to invest, live and spend within the state to drive sustainable economic growth.

Caution against bureaucratic delays

The Governor also cautioned public officials against bureaucratic delays and excessive administrative routines, stressing that citizens judge governments by visible impact rather than meetings and paperwork.

He directed commissioners and heads of ministries, departments and agencies to prioritize high-impact projects capable of significantly improving the quality of life of residents instead of spreading resources across numerous low-impact initiatives.

According to Soludo, the success of the administration would be measured by whether at least 40 percent of the population could point to tangible improvements in their living conditions.

The retreat further featured a comprehensive review of the administration’s five pillars of development, with ministries and agencies directed to align their budgets, policies and programmes with the government’s strategic priorities.

The Governor said the administration’s aggressive planning framework was designed to eliminate procrastination, improve efficiency and ensure precision in governance delivery across all sectors.
