As Nigeria marked the 2026 Children’s Day celebration, the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Anambra State Chapter, brought smiles and hope to children at TenderLove Orphanage Home through a charity outreach aimed at celebrating and encouraging the less privileged.
The visit, led by the Chairperson of NAWOJ in the state, Comrade Tochukwu Ifejika, formed part of activities marking the annual celebration dedicated to promoting the rights, welfare and wellbeing of children.
Speaking during the visit, Comrade Ifejika described children as the future leaders of society and stressed the need for continuous care, love and support for every child, especially the vulnerable.
She prayed for God’s blessings upon the children, management and staff of the orphanage, asking for divine provision, wisdom, sound health and fulfillment of destiny for the children.
“We at NAWOJ are happy to celebrate this year’s Children’s Day with you. We thank God for your lives because you are the future of tomorrow.
“We pray for God’s continual blessings upon the children, management and staff of TenderLove Home and Community,” she said.
Responding, the Manager of the orphanage, Mrs. Helen Eze, expressed gratitude to NAWOJ for identifying with the children on such a memorable occasion.
She noted that despite their circumstances, many of the children possess great potential and could grow to become presidents, governors, doctors, lawyers and other influential leaders in society.
Mrs. Eze described the gesture as timely and encouraging, especially considering the economic challenges facing orphanage homes across the country.
Collective support needed
According to her, caring for vulnerable children requires collective support from government, organisations and well-meaning individuals.
“We appreciate NAWOJ for remembering the children of this home despite knowing that they have nothing material to offer in return.
“However, they always remember their benefactors in prayers,” she stated.

She further appealed to individuals and organisations to continually extend support to orphanage homes and less privileged children.
“These children are wonderful creations of God. Their future is bright and, by the grace of God and the support of caring people, they will fulfill their destinies. These are destiny children,” she added.
The visit featured presentation of gift items, cake cutting, group photographs and moments of eating and celebration with the children, creating an atmosphere of joy and excitement.
The children, visibly excited by the visit, offered prayers for God’s blessings, elevation and abundant rewards for members of NAWOJ.
