The Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Dr Law Mefor, has unveiled plans to establish an “Anambra Change Brigade” in secondary schools as part of efforts to drive Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s value reformation agenda.

Addressing staff of the ministry on Tuesday, Mefor expressed delight at reuniting with them, noting that he in creating a work environment that fosters unity and a sense of family in order to make work more fulfilling and productive.

He stated that he would deliberately work towards reorganising the civil and public service structure, using the Ministry of Information as a model to demonstrate how an effective and motivating work environment should operate.

According to him, workers must develop emotional attachment to their duties and view their roles as meaningful contributions to society, rather than merely routine employment.

“You should not merely pass through the service and retire without leaving any meaningful impact.

“People should feel your absence because of the value you contributed. We must change the current mindset and work culture,” he said.

The commissioner recalled his pledge in 2024 to transform information management in the state into strategic information management, noting that the target had been achieved.

He added that the ministry’s next major focus would be the digitisation of its operations alongside the implementation of its expanded mandate on value reformation.

Dr. Mefor explained that the value reformation mandate is backed by the Anambra Homeland Security Law 2025.

Ethical and moral rebirth

According to him, the law provides the legal and governance framework for ethical and moral rebirth in the state.

“If you study the Anambra Homeland Security Law 2025 carefully, you will discover that the pathway for restoring the cherished values and cultural heritage of Ndị Anambra has already been clearly defined,” he stated.

He further disclosed plans to sustain the publication of the Solution Weekly Bulletin and continue the audience-participatory radio programme, Ask The Commissioner, on the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS).

Mefor also announced plans to establish an Anambra Ethical and Moral Revolution team, a monitoring unit to track public feedback and media accountability, as well as a think tank that would develop strategic messaging for the proposed “Anambra Change Brigade” in secondary schools.

Among those present at the meeting were the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs. Obiageli Uchebo, and the Acting Director of Information, Pastor Emmanuel Emmanuel, among others.
