Danjuma donates N3bn, Dangote N500m at Gowon’s autobiography launch in Abuja

A former Minister of Defence, Theophilus Danjuma, on Tuesday donated N3 billion during the public presentation of former Head of State, Yakubu Gowon’s autobiography in Abuja.

Business magnate Aliko Dangote also donated N500 million in support of the book launch, while businessman Abdul Samad Rabiu purchased copies of the autobiography valued at N25 million.

The event attracted prominent government officials, diplomats and senior military officers from across the country including Vice President Kashim Shettima who represented President Bola Tinubu.

The autobiography, titled My Life of Duty and Allegiance, comprises 20 chapters detailing Gowon’s personal life, military career and years of public service.

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah, reviewed the book during the event.

Danjuma, who served as the chief presenter at the unveiling, was represented by former Chief of Defence Staff, retired General Martin Luther Agwai.

In addition to the N3 billion donation, Danjuma directed that 12 copies of the autobiography be purchased and distributed to the libraries of each of the 20 universities that conferred honorary doctorate degrees on Gowon.
