A prominent rice farmer and former President General of Achalla Community in Awka North Local Government Area, Dr. Charles Okadigbo, has congratulated the commissioner nominees for the Ministries of Agriculture and Local Government and Community Affairs in Anambra State.

Dr. Okadigbo expressed confidence that the experience, competence and exposure of the nominees would positively impact rural farmers and communities across the state.

He also commended the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, for what he described as a careful and thoughtful selection of capable individuals to help drive the affairs of the state.

The former community leader particularly urged the Commissioner nominee for Agriculture to ensure that the food security programmes of both the Federal and State Governments directly benefit genuine farmers.

According to him, effective implementation of agricultural policies and interventions would improve food production and strengthen the agricultural sector in the state.

Dr. Okadigbo further appealed to the government to provide harrowing and tilling tractors for rice farmers to enable them cultivate larger hectares of land during the current farming season.

He noted that increased mechanized support would significantly boost rice production and contribute meaningfully to food sufficiency in Anambra State and Nigeria at large.

Speaking on community development, Dr. Okadigbo expressed optimism that the incoming Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs would prioritize the resolution of lingering leadership disputes, especially issues surrounding Presidents-General elections in various communities.

He said resolving such disputes would pave the way for holistic development in affected communities and also promote peace, unity and security in line with the vision of Governor Soludoโ€™s administration.
