Adaora Soludo, first daughter of Anambra state Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo has re-launched her non-governmental organization, Gloria Foundation, with scholarship awards to ten underprivileged female university students.
Gloria Foundation was launched in 2018 as a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering women to become leaders of change.
Adaora established the NGO in memory of late Mrs. Gloria Uzomaka Ezenwanne, a renowned educator, disciplinarian and social crusader.
The scholarship program is part of the foundation’s Education Support Scheme which provides full tuition support for indigent students.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Soludo explained that the program is a reminder that every young girl deserves to be seen, heard, supported, and encouraged.
She said the Foundation creates hope, inspires confidence and supports young people, especially girls, in pursuing education and becoming the best version of themselves.
“Life’s personal experience has taught me to understand that sometimes all a young person needs is a little support, a little encouragement, and someone who believes in them enough.
She described the scholarship support as a symbol of hope and encouragement.
Soludo’s daughter also distributed sanitary pads to the students.
She described it, as a reminder that no girl should feel less confident because of a natural part of womanhood.
Beneficiaries include: Oluchi Okeke, a 100-level undergraduate of Economics department and Grace Okonkwo, a 300-level law student.
The duo together with Amarachi Ezeukwu a 200-level Physiology undergraduate, appreciated the Gloria Foundation for thinking towards practical impact.
They said the scholarship would give enormous boost to their academic pursuit and hope for the future.
