Dual government employment highly prohibited – Ifeanaeme warns Anambra health professionals

Anambra State Hospital Administrator, Dr. Frank Ifeanaeme, has cautioned health professionals against holding dual government jobs while receiving full-time salaries from both positions.

Dr. Ifeanaeme issued the warning during a meeting with Heads of State Hospitals at his office in Enugwu-Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area of the state.

He expressed concern that some doctors, nurses, and other healthcare workers are simultaneously employed in government service while also participating in residency programmes.

Ifeanaeme stressed that no nurse, pharmacist, or other health worker should be employed in both state and federal civil service roles while drawing full salaries from each.

He directed that the names of those involved be submitted for appropriate disciplinary action.

“I urge all personnel in state hospitals who are undergoing residency programmes to resign from one of the positions.

“The proper process is to seek government approval, either with or without pay, depending on the circumstances,” he said.

Dr. Ifeanaeme warned that defaulters would face sanctions from the relevant authorities.

He explained that the meeting was necessary to address possible ignorance of civil service regulations, which require workers to obtain official approval before proceeding on study leave or taking up additional employment.

The State Hospital Administrator emphasized the importance of complying with established procedures to avoid disciplinary consequences.
