Wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, has described malaria as a preventable disease that has continued to pose a major public health challenge, particularly for children and pregnant women.
In a message on Saturday to mark World Malaria Day, Soludo called for renewed collective action against malaria.

Soludo said the fight against malaria requires awareness, sustained action and shared responsibility among individuals, families and government institutions.
She noted that simple preventive measures such as the use of insecticide-treated mosquito nets,.
“Also maintaining clean environments and seeking prompt medical attention remain key to reducing malaria cases and saving lives.
According to her, the present administration in Anambra, remains committed to supporting initiatives aimed at promoting healthier living.
She added that the government is also focused on efforts to reduce the burden of malaria across communities in the state.
Soludo urged residents to take responsibility in the fight against the disease, expressing optimism that a malaria-free society is achievable with collective effort.
“A malaria-free society is possible. Now we can. Now we must,” she added.
