The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has alerted Nigerians to the circulation of counterfeit toothpaste products masquerading as Colgate, warning consumers to be vigilant and avoid use of the fake items.

The agency disclosed that the affected products include “Coglaet Crema Dental Herbal 100g” and “Coglaet ActivGel 100g,” which are being falsely presented in a manner similar to the popular Colgate brand.

According to NAFDAC, the counterfeit products do not bear batch numbers or NAFDAC registration numbers, a clear indication that they are not approved for sale or consumption in Nigeria.

The agency urged members of the public, distributors, and retailers to immediately stop the sale and use of the products and to report any suspicious items to the nearest NAFDAC office.

It also advised consumers to always check for proper labelling, registration details, and packaging integrity before purchasing toothpaste and other regulated products.

NAFDAC reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding public health and intensifying surveillance to remove substandard and falsified products from circulation across the country.
