Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has extended warm Easter greetings to Christians, calling for unity, peaceful coexistence, and sustained prayers for the state and the nation.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Dauda Iliya, the governor described Easter as a sacred season that reflects the values of sacrifice, forgiveness, and love.
He noted that the celebration also marks the conclusion of the 40-day Lenten period, devoted to fasting, prayer, repentance, and self-discipline.
Governor Zulum reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing security, improving welfare, and promoting the overall well-being of residents.
He highlighted that more than 300,000 families have benefited from ongoing palliative distributions designed to ease economic hardship.
The governor urged citizens to remain united and avoid actions that could threaten the prevailing peace, particularly amid the current political climate.
Stressing that Borno belongs to all, the governor called on residents to reject divisive tendencies that could derail recovery efforts.
Zulum expressed optimism about ending insurgency in the state, including the activities of Boko Haram, while commending the strong religious harmony between Christians and Muslims.
He also applauded traditional rulers and religious leaders for fostering peaceful coexistence and encouraged them to continue promoting unity and tolerance.
The governor paid tribute to the Nigerian Armed Forces, other security agencies, the Civilian Joint Task Force, hunters, and vigilantes for their dedication and sacrifices in ongoing counterinsurgency operations.
