President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to embrace unity, resilience, and sacrifice, assuring citizens that “a new dawn is on the horizon” despite current economic and security challenges.
In his 2026 Easter message, the President rejoiced with Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, describing the season as a time to reflect on faith and redemption.
“I rejoice with Nigerians at home and abroad as we celebrate another Easter,” he said, adding that for Christians, the season symbolizes “the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the redemptive power of salvation for humanity.”
Highlighting the broader significance of Easter, Tinubu noted that it embodies “sacrifice, resilience, and the triumph of light over darkness,” stressing that these values are especially relevant as Nigeria navigates economic and security pressures.
Acknowledging ongoing security challenges, the President praised the efforts of the Armed Forces and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to tackling insecurity.
“Despite the gallant efforts of our men and women of the Armed Forces… challenges to our security have remained.
“However, my administration continues to make resources available and forge foreign partnerships to deal decisive blows to the agents of terror and banditry,” he stated.
Reflecting on his recent visit to Plateau State, Tinubu said, “I was in Jos to commiserate with the people… share in their grief, and offer reassurances of better days to come,” adding that security chiefs have given “strong assurances of progress.”
He urged Nigerians to remain united, warning that “no nation can thrive where fear prevails, and no progress can be sustained without peace.”
“I therefore call upon all citizens to support lawful efforts, be our brothers’ keeper, and reject all forces that threaten our collective well-being,” the President added.
Difficult ongoing reforms
On the economy, Tinubu acknowledged the difficulty of ongoing reforms but maintained they are necessary for long-term prosperity.
“The ongoing reforms, though demanding… are backed by a strong commitment to take us to shared prosperity. True transformation cannot be achieved without sacrifice.”
Looking ahead to future elections, the President emphasized the need for responsible political conduct.
“Let our choices be guided by a shared commitment to peace, continuity, stability, and the long-term good of our country.
“Democracy flourishes where responsibility, restraint, and informed participation prevail,” he said.
Expressing optimism about Nigeria’s trajectory, Tinubu assured citizens that progress is underway.
“Even as present conditions still put pressure on many of our people, economic indicators show we are making the right choices. A new dawn is on the horizon,” he declared.
The President thanked Nigerians for their continued support, urging them to remain steadfast.
“I enjoin you to keep the faith, and never cease to contribute to the progress and greater future we seek,” he counselled.
