The Nasarawa State Police Command has successfully rescued a three-day-old baby boy who was abducted in Mararaba, Karu Local Government Area.
The operatives also arrested two suspects in connection with the crime.
In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the incident was reported on March 29, 2026, by the mother of the infant, 19-year-old Aisha Bada, a resident of Unguwan Bako, Orange Market area of Mararaba.
According to the statement, the young mother told police that unknown persons abducted her newborn while she was asleep in her residence, an uncompleted building located on the outskirts of the community.
She explained that on the night of March 28, at about 11:50 p.m., two unidentified men broke into her home, threatened her with violence, and forcefully took away the baby to an unknown destination.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Shetima Jauro upon receiving the report, immediately directed detectives from Mararaba ‘A’ Division to visit the scene and commence a full-scale investigation.
Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives on April 3, 2026, at about 4:00 a.m., arrested two suspects identified as Furera Abdulrahman, 35, and Sadiya Abdullahi, 39, in whose possession the abducted baby was found.
During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to the crime and implicated another accomplice who is currently at large.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
The rescued infant was promptly taken to the Medical Centre in Mararaba, where he was examined by a doctor, certified to be in good health.
He was subsequently dischargedand has since been reunited with his parents.
The police said the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Lafia for further discreet investigation upon completion of preliminary inquiries.
