Army Chief orders fresh troop deployment to Plateau amid rising tensions

In a decisive effort to address the worsening security situation in parts of Plateau State, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has approved the immediate deployment of additional troops to reinforce ongoing operations under Operation ENDURING PEACE.

According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Operation ENDURING PEACE, Captain Chinonso Oteh, the move is aimed at strengthening the capacity of troops already on the ground to calm tensions and restore order in affected communities.

Speaking at the Headquarters of the Joint Task Force in Jos, the Army Chief urged personnel to maintain professionalism, discipline, and firmness in tackling criminal elements threatening the peace of law-abiding citizens.

He also assured the troops of adequate logistical support and combat resources to ensure the success of their mission.

The reinforcement, comprising over 850 personnel drawn from formations in Abuja and Kaduna, has been tasked with safeguarding lives and property, as well as enhancing the overall security of residents across the state.
