The Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, is currently in London for a high-level energy summit on expanding electricity investment and accelerating regional development across northern Nigeria.
The summit, centred on the Kaduna Electric franchise and themed “Driving Energy Investment and Regional Development,” has convened key stakeholders to identify practical strategies for improving power supply and attracting private sector participation in the energy sector.
Governor Lawal is attending alongside Uba Sani of Kaduna State and Nasir Idris of Kebbi State, reflecting a coordinated regional effort to tackle persistent electricity challenges that continue to hinder economic growth.
The Zamfara delegation also includes top government officials such as the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Muhammad Nakwada, commissioners, special advisers, and heads of critical agencies, including the Zamfara Electrification Agency and the Zamfara Investment Promotion Agency.
Key discussions at the summit focused on unlocking investment opportunities within the Kaduna Electric franchise area and advancing the full implementation of the Electricity Act 2023.
The legislation is to open up the power sector to increased private investment, enhance operational efficiency, and expand electricity access to underserved communities.
Governor Lawal’s participation underscores Zamfara’s commitment to building strategic partnerships, attracting investors, and driving sustainable energy solutions that will support industrial growth and improve living standards across the state and the broader northern region.
