The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebration.
April 3 will be observed as Good Friday, while April 6 has been designated as Easter Monday.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in an official statement.
Easter is one of the most significant celebrations in the Christian faith, commemorating the crucifixion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Good Friday symbolizes the sacrifice of Christ for the redemption of humanity, while Easter Monday marks the continuation of the celebration of His resurrection, which represents victory over death, hope, and the promise of new life.
