President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended greetings to Muslims in Nigeria and across the world on the occasion of this year’ Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The president urged citizens to embrace the values of sacrifice, compassion and national unity.
In a goodwill message issued on May 26, 2026, the President thanked Almighty God for preserving lives to witness another Eid celebration.
He described the festival as a reminder of the virtues demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim, including faith, obedience and selflessness.
Tinubu said Eid-el-Kabir teaches the importance of sacrifice for a greater cause and called on Nigerians to show love, mercy and compassion to one another, irrespective of religion, ethnicity or background.
According to him, the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son, Ismail, in obedience to Allah remains a timeless example of devotion and duty.
The President said Nigeria was currently undergoing a period of reconstruction and renewal, noting that his administration’s reforms, though difficult, were necessary to build a stronger and more prosperous nation.
He expressed optimism that the sacrifices made by Nigerians in the last three years were beginning to produce positive results, including economic stability and improved investor confidence.
Tinubu stated that Nigeria was becoming a preferred investment destination capable of creating jobs and boosting economic growth.
“The walk through the dark tunnel is over, and the light is here,” he declared.
He also expressed confidence that ongoing reforms would continue to improve security and expand opportunities for citizens across the country.
While acknowledging the persistent attacks by terrorists and bandits in some communities, the President assured affected Nigerians that the government remained committed to defeating criminal elements.
Sustained fight promised
He commended the efforts of security and intelligence agencies, including the recent elimination of a wanted ISIS leader, and vowed that the fight against insecurity would continue until peace is fully restored.
“You are neither abandoned nor forgotten. We will ultimately defeat all the forces of evil,” Tinubu assured.
The President urged Muslims to use the sacred occasion of Eid-el-Kabir to pray for peace, national unity and wisdom for leaders at all levels.
He also called on Nigerians to pray for those involved in criminal activities to repent and abandon their actions or face the full weight of the law.
Tinubu encouraged citizens to extend kindness to the less privileged, support their neighbours and strengthen the spirit of brotherhood and peaceful coexistence.
According to him, his administration remains committed to building a country where all citizens can live peacefully, worship freely and pursue their aspirations without fear.
He added that government would continue investing in security, infrastructure, agriculture and human capital development to unlock Nigeria’s full potential.
On behalf of the Federal Government, Tinubu wished Muslims and all Nigerians a peaceful, joyful and blessed Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
