Why we endorsed two aspirants for Anambra Assembly – Anambra Patriots

Anambra Patriots has formally endorsed two of its members aspiring for seats in the Anambra State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The duo, Obiora Okafor, for Awka South Constituency I, and pharmacist, Onyedika Boniface Egbutu, for Awka South Constituency II were endorsed following motions moved and supported by members of their respective constituencies.

Speaking during the group’s meeting held at the APS national secretariat in Awka, the Chairman, Chief Ejiamatu Damian Enekwechi said the group threw its weight behind the aspirants in view of their competence and experience.

According to him, the group focused on grooming competent professionals to support Governor Chukwuma Soludo in delivering quality governance through legislative excellence and collaboration.

He recalled that Anambra Patriots was established in 2024 as a support group for Governor Soludo.

“After successfully contributing to the governor’s re-election, we’re now expanding our focus to champion the emergence of capable and credible individuals into the State House of Assembly.

Also speaking, Convener of the group, Architect Okey Ezeobi reiterated the group’s commitment to promoting good governance, effective service delivery and accountability in the State.

Aspirants with proven integrity

He maintained that the group would only support aspirants with proven integrity and track record of exemplary leadership.

Reacting, the aspirant for Awka South Constituency I, Obiora Okafor, a petroleum engineer said his ambition is driven by desire to provide credible leadership and transform legislative representation.

“My 18 years of professional experience in the oil and gas sector distinguishes me as part of the caliber of individuals needed in the State Assembly.

On his part, the Awka South Constituency II aspirant, Pharm Onyedika Egbutu, highlighted his years of community service, pledging to ensure his constituents received their due benefits.

He also promised to institutionalize periodic medical check-ups, as well as youth empowerment and educational support initiatives.
