As preparations gather momentum for the 2027 National Assembly elections, Dr Johnmary Maduakolam has officially declared his intention to represent Ihiala Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

In a press statement addressed to leaders, stakeholders, youths, women, and the wider Ihiala community, Maduakolam described himself as a true son of the soil, shaped by the same challenges and aspirations as his people.

He is contesting under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

The legal practitioner emphasized that his decision goes beyond a routine political declaration, framing it instead as a call to action against years of ineffective representation.

“We have seen enough to know that what we have today does not reflect the true destiny of our people,” he said. “This is not a routine declaration. This is resistance.”

He criticized what he described as prolonged neglect and absentee leadership in the constituency, noting that residents are often remembered only during election cycles.

According to him, Ihiala deserves leadership that is present, accountable, and focused on delivering tangible results.

Maduakolam said his engagement with communities across the constituency has exposed the depth of frustration among youths, the resilience of women, and the disappointment of elders.

Despite these challenges, he noted that the people remain strong and ready for change.

Vision outlined

Outlining his vision, he pledged to build a constituency driven by a creative economy, quality education, agricultural development, and enterprise.

He also stressed the need for measurable progress and an end to mediocrity in governance.

Referencing his JAMIE Programme, he argued that leadership should be proactive and impactful even outside public office.

He promised to attract federal presence, forge strategic partnerships, and reposition Ihiala for sustainable development.

Describing the 2027 election as a defining moment, Maduakolam urged constituents to reject continued neglect and embrace purposeful leadership.

“This is our moment to reclaim our voice, our power, and our future,” he said, calling on the people of Ihiala to join him in the journey toward transformation.
