Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to speak today with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, according to an Israeli minister.
Earlier, Lebanon had cast doubt on a claim by Donald Trump that the two leaders were preparing to hold talks.
On Wednesday night in the United States, Trump wrote that efforts were underway to ease tensions between Israel and Lebanon.
He noted it had been decades since their leaders last communicated, expressing optimism that the conversation would take place soon.
Meanwhile, hostilities continue on the ground.
In southern Lebanon, Israel has issued fresh warnings to residents as its air strikes persist.
Hezbollah said it has launched rockets into Israel in response.
Separately, the United States reported that it has turned back 10 vessels as part of its naval blockade targeting Iranian ports.
