Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor has stressed the place of dedication and hardwork among public servants to ensure they reach the peak of their careers and retire meritoriously.

Mefor stated this at a grand send-off ceremony organised by the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS).

The event was to celebrate the immediate past Director of News and Current Affairs, Mrs Juddy-Jeff Nwabueze, who bowed out after 35 years of service.

He maintained that being professional is also important for one to successfully serve and retire honorably.

“Being a public servant is not easy as one’s opinion, no matter how wonderful. One must reflect the position of government, its policies and programmes,” he added.

He extolled Nwabueze’s achievements and legacies and appreciated God for giving her grace to retire in good health.

The commissioner urged her not to abandon the institution that nurtured and gave her the platform to make her mark.

“In life, we pray to make our stay in every opportunity given to us sublime; to leave our footprints in sands of time.

“That’s what I sincerely believe she has accomplished.

“Those who are still in service should emulate her.

“If you are ever in doubt of reaching the peak of your career and leaving graciously, look at the process she passed and the way she did it.

“Try to do the much you can. With God, you will reach there and retire meritoriously,” he said.

Managing Director of ABS, Mr Chris Molokwu said they were sending her off with mixed feelings.

He thanked God and the News Department for their roles in putting up the ceremony.

He also urged them to apply team spirit in the discharge of their duties.

Responding, Nwabueze expressed joy and gratitude for the honour, praying for unity and cooperation among member staff.
