Nwoke Udi Palmwine Bar, one of Awka’s most cherished hospitality and entertainment spots, has marked a decade of consistent service with a colourful and memorable 10th anniversary celebration that lit up the Anambra State capital.
The three-day celebration, which climaxed on Sunday, January 11, 2026, drew a large crowd of loyal customers, friends, entertainers and visitors, who all shared admiration for a business that has grown into a cultural symbol over the years.
From start to finish, the anniversary was a blend of gratitude, fun, culture and community bonding. The grand finale featured series of lively competitions that thrilled guests.
The dance competition stole the spotlight, with Ebere Obi, a gifted dancer from Ihiala who is based in Awka, emerging as the overall winner to loud cheers.
Drinking and eating contests also featured prominently, as contestants displayed remarkable stamina and enthusiasm, much to the delight of spectators.

Winners and participants got cash prizes and attractive gift items, all sponsored by the Chief Executive Officer of the bar, Ogbuefi Ndubuisi Eze.
The event treated regular patrons and friends to complimentary servings of the popular star Abacha and fresh palm wine that have become the bar’s signature.
Torrents of commendations
Prominent customers, including Vincent Uyalor, Asika Ikem, Patrick Anaso and Mr Odumeje from Lagos, applauded the CEO for sustaining the business for 10 uninterrupted years.
For them, the achievement is remarkable given the Nigeria’s challenging business climate marked by multiple taxation, insecurity, unstable power supply and fluctuating economic policies.
The patrons urged the Anambra State Government to formally recognise entrepreneurs who continue to project the state positively.
In his remarks, Ogbuefi Eze thanked customers for their unwavering support and reaffirmed his commitment to quality service and authentic Igbo delicacies.
Reflecting on the early struggles, he advised young entrepreneurs to embrace patience, focus, truthfulness and total dedication as keys to lasting success.
With numerous awards, steady job creation and a growing workforce, Nwoke Udi Palmwine Bar enters its second decade as a symbol of resilience, cultural preservation and entrepreneurial excellence in Awka and beyond.
