Anambra State Police Command has called on traders, business owners and Ndi Anambra across the State to exercise heightened caution and strictly observe fire safety measures during the festive season and harmattan.
Spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga in a statement argued that dry weather conditions and strong winds associated with the harmattan period significantly increase the risk of fire outbreaks, particularly in markets, shops, warehouses and residential areas.
He advised traders and residents to ensure proper use and handling of electrical appliances, avoid the use of naked flames, and always switch off power sources when not in use.
“Where possible, fire extinguishers and other basic firefighting equipment should be made readily available.
“The Police Command further urges members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any fire outbreak, emergency, or suspicious activity to the nearest Police Station or through designated emergency channels.
“The Anambra State Police Command remains committed to the protection of lives and property across the State,” he added.
