The Kwara State Government has graduated no fewer than 1,000 forest guards, marking a major step towards strengthening security and curbing the activities of terrorists, kidnappers, and other criminal elements across the state.
The guards passed out on Friday, December 27, 2025, and are set for immediate deployment to forests and vulnerable areas as part of a broader strategy to reclaim forest reserves and enhance public safety.
Speaking at the passing-out parade, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq described the initiative as a “game changer” in the state’s security architecture. He said the move would leave terrorists and kidnappers with no option but to abandon Kwara State or face severe consequences.
The governor commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as “out-of-the-box thinking” aimed at reclaiming Nigeria’s forest resources, flushing out criminal elements hiding in the forests, and strengthening national security.
Governor AbdulRazaq also praised the commitment of the nation’s security agencies to protecting lives and property. He noted that the collaboration between conventional security forces and the newly trained forest guards—who were recruited from local communities—would significantly boost intelligence gathering and enhance ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and kidnapping in the state.
