Governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chief John Nwosu has pledged to make healthcare delivery one of the top priorities of his administration if elected in the Nov.8 governorship election in Anambra.
Addressing supporters and stakeholders, Nwosu assured residents that his government would give unprecedented attention to the health sector.
He promised to reduce mortality rates to the barest minimum across the state.
According to him, it is unacceptable for patients, especially the poor and less privileged, to struggle to pay medical bills or be detained in hospitals after receiving treatment.
He vowed that under his administration, such cases would become a thing of the past.
Nwosu disclosed plans to establish a comprehensive healthcare system anchored on primary healthcare services.
He said the services would be accessible, affordable, and fully equipped to handle emergencies.
His blueprint, he said, includes the provision of modern medical facilities and free emergency response and transport service.
Others are, deployment of qualified health personnel to rural and urban communities.
“Our people deserve quality healthcare without fear of cost.
“Every life matters, and we must build a system where no Anambra indigene dies simply because they cannot afford treatment, ”he added.
The ADC flag bearer emphasized that his proposed reforms would not only upgrade hospitals but also strengthen community health centres.
According to him there would be regular supply of essential drugs, and mobile health units to reach remote areas.
“My vision aligns with broader “SHEEEMS” development agenda, which prioritizes social welfare, human capital development.
“It also aligns with technology-driven governance for a healthier, safer, and more prosperous Anambra,” he added.
