Over 18,000 people across campuses and rallies in Anambra state have benefitted from free internet connectivity provided Geeks and Founders Alliance for Soludo (GEFAS).
GEFAS made the provision through its Solution WiFi initiative with users consuming over seven terabytes of free data.
Managing Director, Anambra State ICT Agency and GEFAS Convener, Fred Agbata disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.
He said GEFAS achieved the feat within six weeks of unveiling its Mobile Tech Hub by Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachi Ibezim.
According to him, GEFAS has deployed free Solution WiFi at the Chuba Ikpeazu Stadium, Onitsha.
This enabled attendees at ongoing events to connect seamlessly and share live updates in real time.
He commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his visionary leadership and commitment to transforming the state into livable and prosperous smart megacity through technology and innovation.
Agbata further reaffirmed the group’s pledge to keep supporting Soludo’s vision of leveraging technology to drive sustainable development, enhance productivity, and reposition Anambra as a digital hub.
Underscoring the place of technology in building a prosperous future, ICT Agency boss assured GEFAS continued commitment to expand access to digital resources, champion innovation and support initiatives that align with government’s mission of creating opportunities for the people.
