A 65-year old man has been arrested for allegedly being in possession of 1,100 rounds of live ammunition in Nkpor, Onitsha, Anambra State.
Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga disclosed this on Saturday.
Ikenga said the suspect was apprehended by Operatives attached to Rapid Response Squad in Awkwuzu following tip off.
He said the suspect confessed being involved in illegal sale of ammunition.
According to him, efforts were on to arrest other accomplices.
He said, “Anambra State Police acting on credible information on Aug 22, arrested one Akpan Godwin ‘m’, aged 65 years.
“He was in possession of 1,100 rounds of live ammunition in Nkpor, Onitsha.
“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to being involved in the illegal sale of ammunition and mentioned other individuals connected to the illicit trade.
“Meanwhile the Operatives have stepped up investigation and manhunt to uncover and apprehend all accomplices.”
