The United States government has issued a warning to Nigerian visa applicants.
It stated that failure to disclose their social media history could result in visa denial and potential ineligibility for future applications.
The warning was contained notice posted on the official X (formerly Twitter) handle of the U.S. Mission in Nigeria
“Applicants seeking non-immigrant visas are now required to provide a comprehensive list of all social media usernames or handles.
“Visa applicants are required to list all social media usernames or handles of every platform they have used from the last 5 years on the DS-160 visa application form,” the statement read.
The Mission emphasized that applicants must certify the accuracy and truthfulness of all information submitted in their application forms.
According to the notice, omitting any relevant social media information may not only lead to the denial of the current application but also affect eligibility for future visa requests.
The updated requirement is part of broader security measures aimed at enhancing screening processes for foreign nationals seeking entry into the United States.
