Former Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen. Chris Ngige, has distanced himself from a campaign poster currently circulating online.
The poster features his image alongside that of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Anambra, Mr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, and his running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife.
In a statement released by his Special Assistant, Mr. Hyggy Obialo, Ngige made it clear that he neither gave his consent nor approved the use of his photograph in the poster.
“The general public is hereby informed that the consent or approval of our principal, Sen. Chris Ngige, was neither sought nor obtained before the said publication was disseminated.
Ngige, a former governor and minister, is currently on a sabbatical from active partisan politics.
He noted that he is taking a well-deserved rest following 25 years of continuous public service and political engagement.
Obialo advised those behind the poster to respect Ngige’s decision to step back from partisan politics for the time being.
He emphasised that the senator has repeatedly communicated this position in various public forums.
